Visit Iowa… Week 2

Week 2:

Hello everyone! Welcome back to the second week of Visit Iowa! This week I am going to introduce you to another cool place in Iowa.

This week I will showcase the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park. Like the Greater Des Moines Area Botanical Garden, the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park is also located in the city Des Moines Iowa.

You can find the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park in downtown Des Moines at 1330 Grand Ave. You can find directions to the park here!

One of the great things about the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park is that they are open during city park hours which is Sunrise until Midnight. If you are looking for a place to take a stroll or soak up some vitamin D, the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park is definitely for you since they are open 365 days a year.

If you would like to learn more about the art that is featured at the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park, I would recommend scheduling a guided tour. Guided tours are offered from April 1 through October 31. However, they do require that you make a reservation three or more weeks in advance. To schedule a tour, click here

If you don’t want to wait that long or if you want something a little less formal the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park offers audio tours. This is a great option if you want to spend some time and not be bound by a schedule or a tour guide telling you where to go. If this is something you would be interested in, it is super easy to access. All you need is your phone and some headphones. The headphones are not a necessity but it might be rude to the other park observers if you have your tour playing out loud while they are trying to enjoy the park.

To access the audio tour you can find them on their website here or by calling the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park audio tour phone number at (515) – 657 – 8264.

The John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park also offers activities and various different engaging ways to interact with the 11 works of art that are in the park. You can find these ways in the John and Mary Pappa John Sculpture Park Exploration guide that can be downloaded here
